NEWS AT A GLANCE
The Rise of Illegal Botox in the UK
LBC’s investigation reveals the dangers of unregulated Botox procedures in the UK, with banned products like Innotox, Botulax, and RenTox being sold illegally through social media and salons. These counterfeit toxins, often linked to the popular K-Beauty trend, pose severe health risks.
Marcelle King, a victim, suffered anaphylactic shock and permanent nerve damage after being injected with fake Botox—unrefined beef gelatine—by a man posing as a doctor. Over a decade later, she still lives with chronic pain.
Plastic surgeon Dalvi Humza warns that the demand for cheap, black-market Botox, costing as little as £10, is fueling the crisis. The MHRA urges the public to report suspicious products via their Yellow Card scheme.

PM Calls for Tougher Online Knife Restrictions to Prevent Future Attacks
In the wake of the Southport killings, Prime Minister Keir Starmer has called for stricter controls on buying knives online, warning that easy access to deadly weapons must be stopped to prevent further tragedies.
The call comes after Axel Rudakubana was sentenced to 52 years for the murder of three young girls at a Taylor Swift-themed dance class in Southport. The Prevent counter-extremism programme had flagged him three times but failed to take further action.
Speaking to LBC, Starmer stressed that tackling knife crime requires early intervention in schools and communities, but also a crackdown on online knife sales.
"It should not be this easy for a teenager to pick up a knife from a post office," he said, vowing to tighten online sales laws and enforce harsher consequences for knife carriers.
Home Secretary Yvette Cooper echoed this, saying it is far too easy for young people to buy knives online, and called for tougher penalties for those caught carrying them.
With the government now accepting all 14 recommendations from the review into the Southport attack, there is growing pressure to act swiftly on online knife sales before another tragedy occurs..

Enfield Town Secures Crucial Win in Survival Battle
Aveley 0 | 1 Enfield Town FC
Enfield Town’s survival hopes received a major boost with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over fellow strugglers Aveley, marking their first back-to-back wins of the season. Sam Youngs’ glancing header from a Jack Bates free-kick proved decisive, while goalkeeper Rhys Forster delivered a man-of-the-match performance with a series of crucial saves.
Despite Aveley’s dominance in possession and chances, Town’s resilience and defensive grit, bolstered by the return of Adam Thompson, saw them through. The win sets up a pivotal clash against Welling as Enfield continues its fight to climb the table. Manager Gavin Macpherson praised the team’s desire and work rate, acknowledging it wasn’t their best performance but a vital step in the right direction.
