Fox Culling at Enfield Golf Club Sparks Outrage

Happy Mother’s Day Please tag @hyneseyes on Instagram for credit, thank you

Enfield Golf Club has issued an apology after foxes were shot on its grounds during a pest control operation on Wednesday, 26 March. The unsanctioned cull, which began around 8pm and continued into the early hours, prompted complaints from residents who reported hearing gunshots.

Wildlife groups and local MP Feryal Clark condemned the action, with Protect the Wild calling it “incredibly cruel” and stressing that foxes are not pests but vital to ecosystems. Lulubells Animal Rescue raised concerns over orphaned cubs during breeding season.

The club admitted the decision was made by internal management without committee approval and promised it would not happen again. Clark vowed to follow up with the club, insisting “golf clubs cannot and should not be involved in culling foxes.”

The incident has sparked wider calls for humane wildlife management and stronger protection for urban animals. Read more from BBC by clicking here.

A Night Celebrating Enfield's Creative Soul

Local makers took center stage, displaying their stunning handmade creations in our newly relaunched gift shop. Guests sipped cocktails while:

  • Watching live pottery demonstrations

  • Personalizing paintbrushes at our interactive workshop

  • Grooving to vinyl spins by a local DJ

The magic behind this? UK Shared Prosperity Funding is helping us:

Enfield Ranked Least Active Borough in London

A new report from Transport for London has placed Enfield at the bottom of the list for physical activity, with just 22% of adults achieving the recommended 20 minutes of active travel daily. This puts Enfield behind all 32 other London boroughs—a significant drop from its position in 2022.

Experts blame car dependency, slow bus services, and a lack of safe cycling routes. Campaigners are now calling for urgent improvements, including 20mph zones, faster public transport, and a completed cycling network.

Despite previous investment through the 'Mini Holland' programme, many believe progress has stalled.

📍 Enfield Council declined to comment.

FOOTBALL

Enfield 0 - 1 Hemel Hempstead Town

A 95th-minute winner from Hemel Town's Trae Cook-Appiah condemned Enfield Town to their fourth consecutive defeat in a cruel Bank Holiday fixture, sending Gavin Keena's side into the relegation zone before a crowd of 975.

The visitors dominated early, with Kyle Ajayi marshaling Hemel's defense superbly, while Town's reshuffled backline – including emergency right-back Alex Solomon – held firm until his second-half withdrawal with breathing difficulties. Joash Nembhard's man-of-the-match performance nearly earned a point, but Ollie Knight's 80th-minute header wide proved costly before Cook-Appiah's scrambled finish.
